We have lawn alternatives, ground covers, small, medium, and large shrubs, and trees. Free planting guide with each purchase. Get advice on what to plant where!

Free nursery tour and soil workshops

Learn how we propagate our plants and learn how we formulate our soils for specific stages in a plant's life. Being a successful gardener depends on understanding the importance of soil and root health. You too can have a green thumb! Please arrive five minutes early. Tour and workshop lasts approximately 20 minutes.

Critters in the Soil!

Kid-friendly exploration of critters that live in soil including how they eat, move, and their roles in soil health. Live earthworms and sow bugs will be available for this hands-on mini biology class.

Your visit begins with a guided tour of our Coach House, where you will see our collection of historic horse-drawn vehicles that helped open and settle the American West. Learn the stories behind these remarkable wagons and how they carried people, mail, and goods across the frontier.

You’ll also see horse-drawn farm equipment that is still used today at Harris Stage Lines to put up hay—just as it was done in earlier times.

Next, visit our Saloon & Music Hall, where every item inside has its own story from the past.

From there, head over to the Livery Stables, where you’ll meet the Gentle Giants—our Belgian Draft Horses—standing in their tie stalls just as horses were kept in years gone by ready for their work day.

Watch as the horses are hitched to the wagon, and then enjoy a wagon ride around the ranch.

FREE Make-and-Take Sunflower Seed Planting Workshop

What's Happening on the Farm:

Plant your own sunshine! Sunflowers are an important part of our farm’s 45 acre pollinator habitat project. We will be offering visitors an opportunity to plant sunflower seeds in a paper cup filled with potting soil to take home with them and plant in their own yard. We will provide all of the supplies needed and care instructions. 

No reservations are required. All ages are welcome!

Inside our Farm Market we will have Sunflower Honey and cold apple cider slushes available for purchase. 

Admission stickers to Our Happy Acres Family Activity area will be available for purchase as well.

Step inside a working gelato facility and see how fresh gelato is made from start to finish. This guided experience begins outside with a look at our delivery setup, then moves inside where guests will learn how milk is transformed into gelato through pasteurization and freezing. Watch gelato being produced in real time and fill a fresh pint to take home.

Get a chance to explore the historic Santa Margarita Ranch. This visually spectacular tour leads you into the diverse Santa Lucia mountain range in one of our open-air off-road vehicle. Our team will share the story of founders Chris and Summer on how it all began to where it has brought them today. Plant a Baby Olive Tree! 
Choose a young Arbequina Olive Tree from a bin that has grown in our orchard. Plant it in a temporary pot to take home to transport to your yard. Great activity for kids as well as adults. (Available until supplies last - but we will have a lot!)
